GASPER FABIJAN

Prešeren's "Zdravljica," the Slovenian national anthem, is a toast that celebrates unity and friendship. The poet wrote it as a visual poem or carmen figuratum: each stanza is shaped like a wine goblet. By rotating the stanza around its axis, a physical goblet is formed. Thus, the toast becomes a goblet and the goblet becomes the toast.
